On Friday 18 October at 11.00 a.m. in Riga fertilizer Terminal Ltd. on Uriekste Street 48 k-1, Riga will host local practical civil protection and disaster management trainings. The purpose of the training is to the examine and improve the established procedures and measures specified in the civil protection plan of the undertaking, as well as in the civil protection plan of the off-installation.
The training scenario provides for temperature rise in one of the domes of the company's fertiliser storage and handling complex, which increases the risk of an industrial accident and requires the evacuation of people nearby. There will also be played out that there is a victim in the event who cannot leave the crash site, and during the evacuation the person falls in Daugava and needs to be rescued.
Officials and employees from Riga fertilizer Terminal Ltd., the State fire and Rescue Service, the Emergency Medical Service, the Riga municipal Police, the State Police, the Port Police of the free Port of Riga, the Riga municipal Civil Protection and operational information Administration and the State environmental Service will participate in the training.
As a part of the training, alarm sirens and employee notification system will be switched on in the company's territory, as well as the movement of special machinery will be observed in the city area, so we urge residents not to worry about seeing operational machinery moving to the streets. Training organisers apologise in advance to residents for the burdens caused by operational transport movement and for causing anyone undue upset!
It will not be possible for representatives of the media to observe the course of the training in person!
