The single emergency number 112 of Latvia works from 1997.
There are three Emergency Response Centres in Latvia – in Riga, Cesis, Jelgava. The most calls are received during summer season and May.
In Latvia there is a two-level emergency call processing model.
First level is Emergency Response Centre. All reports of citizens (calls, text messages, eCalls) are received and processed here. Each report is being assessed whether the emergency service assistance is required or not.
The second level is Resource Management Centres. They are established in each emergency service – State Fire and Rescue Service, State Police, Emergency Medical Service. Upon receiving information about an accident each service’s Resource Management Centre sends its resources to the accident, and if necessary, coordinates additional support from other services.
Important!
The dispatchers of Emergency Response Centre never call first!
You will receive a call from the single emergency number 112 only, if:
- you called 112 but the phone call was disconnected;
- the dispatcher needs to clarify the information that was given by you.
Remember!
The dispatchers of Emergency Response Centre will never ask your personal identity code, bank account number or any other sensitive information.
