Unfortunately, despite warnings to be cautious, accidents on water and ice occur quite frequently. Both fishermen and swimmers find themselves in distress, and, most often, the consequences are tragic. Divers from SFRS are deployed to rescue those in distress and search for drowning victims.

A diving qualification is required to perform underwater rescue or search operations. For underwater search operations, the necessary equipment includes a breathing apparatus for underwater work, a full-face mask, a buoyancy compensator vest, a dry suit, a weight belt, swim fins, a diving knife, and an underwater communication device.
