What is a chemical accident?

Significant damage to industrial technological processes, storage tanks, pipelines, or hazardous material transportation that have led to the release of hazardous substances in quantities endangering human and animal health and life, as well as causing environmental damage.

The Ministry of the Interior and its subordinate institutions are responsible for managing chemical accidents and other emergencies related to the use of chemicals or mixtures, as well as for overseeing compliance with the relevant safety requirements, in accordance with laws and other legal acts.

SFRS uses a specialized hazardous materials response vehicle equipped with specialized equipment for mitigating the consequences of chemical accidents. 

Chemical Protective Clothing

Chemical protective clothing has different types of protection.

Chemical protective suits, depending on their assemblage, usage and performance, can be fully sealed, gas and liquid impermeable, coverall or two-piece suit.
